JOANNA MCCRACKEN

I am Joanna McCracken, founder of Mind Your Business. I started the organization to meet the ever-growing need in the legal community to address professional burnout. I understand first-hand the pressures and strains of working in a high-stress legal career whilst also managing a home, family, children’s schooling, and all of life’s extra-curricular activities.

I am an attorney and managing partner of the Nashville-based law firm, McCracken Kuhn PLLC. My firm’s primary area of practice is divorce – easily one of the most emotionally-charged and stressful areas of law. I am also a meditation teacher, yoga instructor, and single parent of two busy daughters.

Clients do not come first. Employees come first. If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the clients.

It is my knowledge and practice of meditation and yoga that has enabled me not only to manage the high demands of my professional and personal life but actually appreciate, enjoy, and thrive in each aspect.

I teach the techniques and create an open forum to develop ways for firms and organizations to continue to progress with the work on which they depend while providing and implementing a healthy and supportive environment for the people on whom they rely.

I practice what I preach. Through the promotion of meditation, mindfulness, and yoga techniques, my law firm is able to fulfill its promise that each employee’s personal wellbeing comes first.

The result is a firm of rested, healthy, and happy individuals who, in turn, have the energy and focus needed to provide the best client experience. Piper McCracken, PLLC attorneys are the recipients of multiple client-satisfaction awards.

I am an active committee member of the TN Bar Association’s Wellbeing Committee and give wellbeing presentations at law schools, legal seminars, and continuing legal education conferences for various bar associations and legal organizations. I'm also the membership chair of the Mindfulness in Law Society.
